$700 Million Google Play Settlement – Are You Eligible for a Payment?

If you’ve purchased apps or made in app purchases through Google Play, this is important. A $700 million settlement may result in a payment for eligible users, and for most people, no claim form is required.

This settlement covers purchases made through Google Play between August 16, 2016 and September 30, 2023 while living in the United States, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Most payments are automatic. If your Google Play account email address or phone number is linked to a PayPal or Venmo account, payment will be sent directly once the settlement is approved.

This is important: The contact information form on the settlement website is not a claim form and is not required to receive payment.

You should only submit your contact information if one of the following applies:

  • You do not have a PayPal or Venmo account and do not want to create one
  • You no longer have access to the email address or phone number connected to your Google Play account

Submitting your information simply allows you to be notified when the supplemental claims process begins, which will happen after automatic payments are completed.

If you received a notice email with a Notice ID, you can use it when submitting your information. If you did not receive a Notice ID, you can still proceed without logging in.

Key dates to know:

  • Exclusion Deadline: February 19, 2026
  • Objection Deadline: February 19, 2026
  • Fairness Hearing: April 30, 2026

Doing nothing means you will remain eligible for payment and give up the right to sue Google separately over these claims. If you prefer to keep the right to sue independently, you must formally exclude yourself from the settlement.
